| | Gittlin states in his essay that media is clolrotned by the ruling classes and political parties. Therefore, most of the news that the world's audience (from TV and newspapers etc.) perceive is distorted, representing in this way a different reality very far from the real events as they happen. This process is called hegemony. Basically, the ruling classes choose A Status, which indirectly becomes people's state of mind. In this way, media is able to control indirectly our thoughts and beliefs. Thoughts and beliefs however, represent the essential part of a human being. Thoughts and beliefs are what make a person act; therefore, if these can be clolrotned by somebody external to our person the global situation can mute drastically to some direction where the only winner are the ruling classes. However, I described this situation as if the whole human kind was under a dictatorship and not under a democracy. Fortunately, the majority of the developed countries (those ones who can change the world, and make it a better place where to live) don't live under dictatorships. Therefore, people could choose what to listen and what to believe. Is up to us. The fact is that at this point of history, the majority of people are informed through the main media corporations (the distorted ones). For example, if you watch Canale 5 and you watch Current TV you are watching two very different channels. From the first one you risk to absorb distorted news (or even don't absorb them at all because the do not show them), from the second one you mostly absorb true facts. The only problem is that 99% of the Italian population (for this example) watches the first one. This is what happens when some alternative media try to contrast the major media companies.I would like to give an example of distorted media (cinema in this case). There is a movie by Ray Test from 1942 called Marijuana The Devil's Harvest . You can make your own comments and thoughts by looking to the poster of this movie on the internet. Please do it. |

| | Hi. I would like to clarify. As at 28 Sept 2011, there are 2 Secret Recipe (SR) otluets in Kulim, one at Lunas (presumably the one that you visited and took the picture dated 19 Dec 2010) while the other one is at Kulim Landmark Central, which was opened in August 2011. I as the owner of Secret Recipe Kulim Landmark Central felt that there is a serious need to address this fiasco clearly. Hope it clarifies. |
